What Giants’ Brian Daboll said in response to his players ripping him after Sunday’s loss

After the Giants fell to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Sunday 30-7, several team leaders spent their postgame press conferences ripping the effort of their teammates.
Lack of effort ultimately falls on coach Brian Daboll, who is 8-20 (with a 2-9 record this season) since he won a 2022 wild-card playoff game in Minnesota, following a 9-7-1 debut regular season.

Wide receiver Malik Nabers called their performance “soft as f—,” before pointing the finger at Daboll when asked about his zero first half targets.
Dexter Lawrence said the Giants got the ‘s—” beaten out of them.
Brian Burns said “that’s a–” when asked about the lopsided defeat.
Jermaine Eluemunor said he doesn’t think everybody is “giving 100%.”
Again, all of these critiques fall on the coach, who might just be one bad Dallas loss away from getting fired, despite co-owner John Mara stating in late October he doesn’t “anticipate” firing him or general manager Joe Schoen (also in Year 3) after the season.
Anything can happen when your team loses six games in a row and hasn’t led since they beat the Seahawks 29-20 on Oct. 6.
Daboll was asked about his players’ comments during his Monday press conference. Here’s what he had to say:
“When you lose a game like that, there’s frustration,” said Daboll. “Certainly, you’d like to keep it in house. But you understand. I’ve been doing this for a while. There’s conversations that you have to have if comments like that are made. I respect the opinions of the players and of the coaches. And we’ll work as hard as we can to get this fixed.”
Does he feel like he’s lost the locker room?
“I feel good about our communication with the players, with the coaches,” he said. “Certainly not happy about the results, but I expect a lot from those guys and they should expect a lot from me. There’s a good communication process, but when you lose like that, it’s a frustrating thing.”
